The Last Druid is a wonderful heartwarming 1992 documentary about Ben McBrady who could have been the last member of an order going back 3000 years! Very well directed the cameraman simply follows 72 year old Ben around his home in rural Eire....It’s just a one man narration of telepaths, (pay attention to approx.. 30 mins) ancient civilisations, cataclisms, neolithic structures, St Patrick, Irelands contribution to pre-Christian Christianity, (hints of Jesus' lost years?), how the Roman Empire ruled, & much MUCH more.
So put aside 50 minutes, make yourself a mug of cocoa, sit down in a favorite chair, pull a blanket over your legs & get drawn into Bens lost world.
A takeaway; Ben said "..the task of each druid was to be a compendium of all known knowledge therefore if civilization collapsed one individual should be capable of re-establishing everything.
This is so cool, thanks, Andy!
I wonder if anyone wrote down how to be a Druid... if he's the last one. I hope it's not all lost now... Lovely video!
Great doc!! Cheers!! Had no idea the druids were an important force in the development of Christianity. I thought the English just turned the Irish Celts into a subjugated people.
And Jeezuz.... it seems as a wandering scholar may have even made it over to the Emerald Island.
The photography was beautiful!! Felt like I was looking at living, breathing works of Monet.
